In your professional life, you may encounter situations where social and business obligations overlap.
Well I’m lucky enough to be in that situation right now.
When I was asked if I would like to take over the running of the Shelford and Newton Toll Ride I jumped at the chance.
I took on the role in September and already have 50 paid up members chomping at the bit to get out there.
The Toll Ride was formed in 1992, to provide a series of traffic-free, private tracks for horse riders in the area. The paths link up with each other via existing bridleways, RUPPs and unclassified country roads.
Riders wishing to enjoy these safe riding facilities are charged a fixed annual fee. Riders provide me with passport type photographs, proof of third party insurance or BHS/PC membership, along with a description of their horse/s. They are then provided with an armband which must be worn on the arm at all times when using the toll ride.
Does life get any better? I ride my horse Rolo most days. This being one of the main reasons I chose this type of profession. You have to balance your work and home life or what is the point?
