After months of planning the day finally came for 150 attendees to join us for the Rett Education Conference 2015 @ The Hilton Hotel in Northampton.
Rett Education is a not-for-profit organisation set up to extol the best approaches to education for people living with Rett Syndrome. In giving educators and health professionals an annual meeting place, they hope to develop guidelines for best practice, a sharing environment and an advice service for parents and families to turn to.
We had inspiring speakers Susan Norwell, Dave Hewett, Chris Sherlock and Hector Minto sharing their knowledge. Followed by Shonette Bason-Wood who closed the event with her summary of the day.
I worked alongside Janie Beaumont & Catherine Simm (both parents of Rett Syndrome girls) to bring this event together. My involvement as Event Coordinator included liaising with the hotel / speakers and attendees to ensure the day ran smoothly. It also involved all the background work of invoicing / social media / marketing the event / bookkeeping (budget / balance sheets) and managing the payments (bank/paypal) responding to email / telephone queries during the 8 months run up to the event taking place. A lot of hard work and preparation but well worth it.
It was a great day and I was really pleased to be involved. Here’s to the Rett Education Conference 2016!
