I believe in the ability to work where you are.
I’m a VA and with my flexible work I have the ultimate work/life balance. As long as the work gets done I can do my job wherever I am in the world. I love to travel; with the flexibility that this job allows, I can take my work with me and I can work from wherever I want.
A Work/Life balance is what it’s about
We’re fortunate to be living in a time when the available technology allows us the privilege of working from any location which has basic connectivity. I stay connected to my clients either by Wi-Fi or by using my mobile phone as a tethering device. The ‘Virtual’ advantage of being a Virtual Assistant is the absence of walls or limits on where you should work.
My working hours are flexible too; I manage my daily work requirements around my personal life and if I need to take a few hours off during the day I either start work early in the morning to get ahead, or catch them up in the evening. There’s no 9-to-5 and I certainly don’t miss the daily commute!
Have Laptop, Will Travel
I’ve been a roaming VA for 6 years and I truly believe that I have the best job in the world. Anywhere in the world! In just the last few months I’ve travelled & worked through South Africa, Mozambique, Seychelles and Austria. Next week I’m off skiing in France and my trusty laptop will join me again. How many others could tell you that they enjoy such a perfect work/life balance?
Several years ago I worked as a Service Manager in the telecoms industry. With exposure to remote management systems, I quickly realised the potential to work remotely and embrace the advantages of modern technology. It took a couple of years to create a stable client base but the rest is history!
What keeps me busy?
Bookkeeping using Xero (I love Xero), executive assistant functions using Microsoft Office 365, social media updates, Mailchimp newsletters and regular blogs for clients. I attend the odd networking event but the entrepreneurs I work with constantly recommend my services, so I must be doing something right!
